Conference Overview

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) will host the 2026 Alabama–Mississippi Chapter Annual Conference and Business Meeting of the ASA on Friday, March 27, 2026 at the Oxford Conference Center ( map and directions ).

The conference will feature a dynamic program including a poster session, junior faculty and student research presentations. The event provides opportunities for networking, scholarly exchange, and celebrating advancements in statistical research.

We welcome students, faculty, educators, and practitioners from academia, government, and industry.

⭐ Junior Faculty Research Spotlight

A new feature of the conference in 2026 is a dedicated Junior Faculty Research Spotlight, designed to highlight innovative work by early-career scholars.

Submission Policy: All accepted submissions (student and junior faculty) will be included in the conference poster session by default. A limited number will be selected for oral presentation in the Junior Faculty Research Spotlight or Student Oral Presentation sessions.

*For this conference, junior faculty are defined as: • Non-tenured faculty members (tenure-track or equivalent), or •Faculty, research scientists, or postdoctoral scholars within 7 years of receiving the PhD. We strongly encourage eligible junior faculty to submit abstracts and participate.

Dr. David Banks

Department of Statistical Science, Duke University

Dr. Banks is a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (2019), Fellow of the American Statistical Association (2011), Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (2021), an elected member of the International Statistical Institute, and Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society.

He is internationally recognized for his contributions to statistical methodology and its applications in data science, machine learning, network analysis, and statistical issues in national security and forensic science.
