At the Joint Statistical Meeting in Boston, there are a number of astrostatistics-related sessions (listed below, but check the JSM online program for any changes) along with several other talks with astro applications (see the online program). In particular, we wanted to draw your attention to an informal interest group meeting that will follow the "Big Data in Astrostatistics" session the morning of Wednesday, August 6 - we will gather outside the session's room around 10:30 AM. Sunday, August 3, 4:00 - 5:50 PM: Bayesian Astrostatistics (Activity Number 47) Wednesday, August 6, 8:30 - 10:20 AM: Big Data in Astrostatistics (Activity Number 433) ***Wednesday, August 6 ~10:30 AM: Informal ASA Astrostatistics Interest Group Meeting outside the "Big Data in Astrostatistics" session room Wednesday, August 6, 2:00 - 3:50 PM: Statistical Analysis of Kepler Data at SAMSI (Activity Number 539) Thursday, August 7: 8:30 - 10:20 AM: Introductory Overview Lecture: Astrostatistics (Activity Number 577)
Check out the two recent articles written about Astrostatistics: 1. Jogesh Babu and Eric Feilgelson wrote an article "Planet Hunting to Sky Surveys, Astronomy and Statistics Realign," which is published on the Space.com website (http://www.space.com/27611-astrostatistics-drives-modern-astronomy.html) *This is the first of a possible series of articles about Astrostatistics for Space.com provided by ASA members who are involved in the Astrostatistics Interest Group
