FRIENDS OF COPSS - Online Discussion Group
The Friends of COPSS are affiliated professional societies that also promote discovery and practice of statistical science, but do not hold member status in COPSS. This designation provides an organizational structure to encourage communication and partnerships among statistical societies with an international perspective and broad range of interests.
COPSS was originally formed as a committee of the elected leadership of the founding societies of the Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM), and that structure remains in place today. Any other society formally designated as a joint sponsor of the current year’s JSM is automatically designated as a “Friend of COPSS” and invited to a special joint meeting of COPSS and Friends of COPSS at the JSM. In addition, other statistical societies that are not co-sponsors of the JSM can be invited to that meeting by COPSS and given the designation as a Friend.
