Mark Your Calendars for Our First AMA!

Hello, all!

As the academic school year starts off, we’re introducing a new feature here on Young Professionals: AMAs! (If you’ve never heard of an AMA, it stands for “Ask Me Anything.” Often associated with Reddit, an AMA is a chance to ask an invited guest your most pressing questions in [pseudo-]real time on an online forum.)

Our first AMA guest will be Amy Nussbaum, the ASA’s own Science Policy Fellow. Amy’s the ASA’s first Science Policy Fellow, and joined us here in the ASA office this past spring. Amy earned her PhD recently, and here at the ASA, she’s been working with Steve Pierson, our Director of Science Policy, advocating for statistics at the Federal level.  (Learn more about Amy here <http://magazine.amstat.org/blog/2016/07/01/amynussbaum16/>. )

If you’ve got questions about

  • Making the transition from student to professional,
  • Balancing student work and professional work,
  • Opportunities for statisticians to engage with the federal government, and/or
  • Ways to get engaged with the ASA,

then Amy’s a great resource!

The AMA will take place here, on Young Professionals, Tuesday, September 27, from 2-3pm EST. At 2, Amy will make her introduction post. To ask Amy a question, just respond to her introduction post! (Questions will be moderated.)

Alternatively, submit your question ahead of time using our Contact Us form <http://community.amstat.org/contactus>.

Bring your questions (or submit them ahead of time), and help us make our first AMA a success!
