Hello, all!

Thank you for making our first AMA, with ASA Science Policy Fellow Amy Nussbaum, such a hit! It went so well that we've decided to make AMAs a regular feature in the Young Professionals discussion group. (Never heard of an AMA? It stands for “Ask Me Anything.” An AMA is a chance to ask an invited guest your most pressing questions in [pseudo-]real time on an online forum.)

Our second AMA guest will be Jessica Utts, current president of the ASA! (Thanks to Will Eagan, of Purdue's ASA Student Chapter, for suggesting her as a guest!) Want to know more about Professor Utts? Check out her homepage and her many articles featured in Amstat News. You can also watch her President's Address from JSM 2016 online.

Some of Professor Utts' goals as president have been:

  • Educating high school and college students on career opportunities in statistics; and
  • Promoting the importance of statistical literacy to the public,

so anything that falls within those goals would be a great subject for a question!

The AMA will take place here, on Young Professionals, Thursday, November 17th, from 1-3pm EST. At 1, Professor Utts will make her introduction post. To ask a question, just respond to her introduction post! (Questions will be moderated; remember to check our our Code of Conduct before submitting a question. Please limit your questions to two to five sentences--think no more than a short paragraph.)

Alternatively, submit your question ahead of time using our Contact Us form <http://community.amstat.org/contactus>.

Bring your questions (or submit them ahead of time), and help make Professor Utts feel welcome!
