Welcome

Welcome to The Community of Statisticians in Small Biotechs, An ASA BIOP EC Sponsored Committee!

This is a community where statisticians are encouraged to share their learning, expertise, and experiences. When working with a startup or a small company, a statistician is often called upon to support an array of pursuits and challenging projects. This may include technical support from pre-clinical, chemical and manufacturing, to clinical trial design and analysis, post-marketing surveillance, and health economics and outcomes research (HEOR).   Some of these projects maybe non-quantitative in nature such as vendor evaluation and management,  or establishing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).  Many statisticians often juggle multiple roles simultaneously. However, due to the smaller size, startup biotech companies are also more agile and capable of swiftly making and implementing changes. This provides valuable opportunities for statisticians to take on leadership roles and experience unparallel professional growth.

The Community of Statisticians in Startups is dedicated to cultivating a collaborative and supportive environment. We strive to create a space where members can comfortably share both technical and non-technical challenges, as well as their experiences – whether gained from large pharmaceutical companies or small biotech firms. We believe that collaborating across industries opens pathway to a broader pool of resources and expertise. This, in turn, enhances efficiency, drives innovation, and boost confidence.
