Welcome to the website of the Southern California Chapter of the American Statistical Association (SCASA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering unity within the community of statisticians, particularly in the Southern California region, while also advancing statistical education for both professionals and the general public. Through its efforts, SCASA seeks to strengthen the role of statistics in improving human welfare everywhere. Our mission is to support excellence in statistical practice, research, and meetings, to promote the improvement of statistical education, and to encourage the proper application of statistics. Each year, SCASA organizes three signature events: the High School Statistics Poster Competition in March, the Applied Statistics Workshop in April, and the Kick-off and Business Meeting in December.

Membership is open to individuals from all fields related to statistics, offering opportunities to actively participate in organizing local events and activities as well as to vote in elections for the SCASA Board. Members who also belong to the national American Statistical Association (ASA) are eligible to hold SCASA office. Annual membership dues are $12 for regular members and $6 for full-time students and retirees.
