The American Statistical Association (ASA) DataFest is a celebration of data in which teams of undergraduates work around the clock to find and share meaning in a large, rich, and complex data set.  Since 2021, This event has been organized annually in Poughkeepsie, New York, by  Vassar College. It is the first time that Dutchess Community College has participated.

This year's contest was held over a single weekend, from March 31 to June 2. During that time, 10 teams of between 3-5 students did intense data wrangling, analysis, and presentation to answer questions given by a National USA institution. Students were given several CSV files, some containing around 400,000 observations. Each team was allowed 7 minutes and some slides to impress a panel of judges. Prizes were given for Best in Show, Best Visualization, and Best Use of External Data.
DCC Tidyverse was awarded  the  prize "Best Use of External Data."

Dutchess Community College participated with two other teams who did a great job: DCC ggplot2 (Kalegnon Dogba-Gobehi and Garrett Oles), and DCC Tibbles (Jason Ashong and Kamari McKechnie). All students participating in this event are members of The Dutches Community College Student Chapter ASA, State University of New York.
