Presently, there are several man-made phenomena (wars) in the Middle East, and nature ones (earthquakes) in Venezuela and Colombia, razing cities. And there are forest fires in Canada, the US and Europe, ravaging thousands of wooded hectares. To provide some help, we present below several engineering tutorials, illustrated with PPTs from our excellent Syracuse University graduate students, that address some of these problems and provide guidance and context for their solutions to those engaged.
