ASA Connect

On March 20, 2026, a group of faculty leaders representing 35 programs in statistics and data science gathered in St. Louis at the Washington University campus for an intensive one-day workshop "Statistics and Data Science Programs – Challenges and Opportunities" to explore emerging challenges, exchange ideas and best practices, and formulate new action plans to advance our shared vision for the future. This report is based on the presentations and discussions that took place during the workshop. Taken together, they converge on a common diagnosis: the challenges facing our discipline are not threats of relevance but of positioning, and the response must be proactive, outward-facing, and ambitious.  - Please see the full report published in ASA Discoveries
