We are excited to announce the Statistical Methods in Imaging (SMI) Conference 2026, hosted by the ASA Statistics in Imaging Section (SII) and held June 1–3, 2026, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. SMI 2026 is a premier gathering for researchers and practitioners developing statistical methodology, computational tools, and applications in imaging science.

Call for Submissions
We now invite contributions in the following categories:

We welcome proposals for invited sessions that showcase cutting-edge imaging statistics research, interdisciplinary collaborations, and emerging challenges in methodology, computation, and applications. Sessions can include a mix of senior and junior presenters. Session proposals are due February 10, 2026.
2. Poster Abstract Submissions (https://forms.gle/Z2TJhyAN7vKeKA5W9)
Poster sessions provide an excellent platform for emerging results, ongoing studies, and innovative methods in imaging statistics. We strongly encourage submissions from students and early-career researchers. Poster submissions are due March 10, 2026
3. Short Course Proposals (https://forms.gle/rgHrQrWUWppmjBVW7)
We invite proposals for short courses (half-day or full-day) offering high-impact instruction on statistical methodology, software tools, or computational techniques relevant to imaging data analysis. Both introductory and advanced topics are welcome. Tutorial submissions are due March 20, 2026.
4. Best Student Paper Award submissions (https://forms.gle/PWUKiWvCBHE6wMF67)
We invite student paper submissions for Best Student Paper Awards for the Statistical Methods in Imaging (SMI) 2026 conference. Detailed submission instructions and forms are also available on the SMI 2026 website. Submissions are, due March 1, 2026
SDSI Special Issue: SMI Conference Series Highlights
We are pleased to highlight that the ASA journal Statistics and Data Science in Imaging (SDSI) has launched a special issue entitled "SMI Conference Series Highlights." All keynote, invited session, student paper, and poster contributions presented at SMI 2026 are eligible for submission to this special issue. The call for papers is available here:
