Dear AERA Members,
With the sudden and drastic cancellation of contracts at the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) beginning on February 10, we strongly underscore our commitment to protecting the integrity of federal data and statistics and federally funded education research. AERA continues to monitor and respond to these actions and others that have affected federal support for education research and data collection.
To continue to educate and advocate effectively about the adverse impacts and collateral damage experienced by AERA members due to these cancellations, we ask for your immediate help. Specifically, we are seeking information on specific losses and harms to your work of these cancellations for those of you (1) who were directly involved in a contract or subcontract, or (2) whose research or training of graduate students or early career scholars was affected by the loss of data, research, or evidence-based resources. Please complete this form to provide this information.
We also continue to encourage you to provide details on impact and general concerns related to federally-funded research, research training grants, or data access, including broader Department of Education grants and research grants or research-related activity at the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health by completing this form.
We are asking you to provide this important information to us now. AERA supports you, our members, and the important research you are doing. This is also the time to reach out to your members of Congress to communicate the importance on this work and the loss that it means to students, families, educators, and policy makers. Tips on how best to do so will be posted on the AERA website by the end of this week.
Thank you for all you do to advance education research to serve the public good.
Sincerely,
