Cleveland Clinic
Presentation Title: Personal Experiences as an MS Level Cancer Biostatistician: Service, Science, Business
ABSTRACT:
MS level biostatisticians play an indispensable role in advancing cancer research, serving as key collaborators who bridge statistical expertise with clinical inquiry. Drawing on my professional journey at MD Anderson Cancer Center and Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Center, I aim to highlight the multifaceted contributions of MS biostatisticians through illustrative case studies. These examples will demonstrate how three interconnected pillars- service (collaborative problem-solving), science (methodological innovation), and business (project leadership and resource optimization)-collectively define the value of MS level biostatisticians in cancer research. By sharing real-world insights from leading cancer centers, I hope this perspective will empower current and aspiring statisticians to better understand the scope, challenges, and rewards of this career path while inspiring deeper reflection on their potential impact in the field.
