    Overview

    As part of the in-person session of the NISS Writing Workshop at JSM, participants are invited to attend Short Course 6: An Introduction to ChatGPT, taught by Linjun Zhang (Rutgers University–New Brunswick), from 8:30–10:15 AM on August 3, 2025.

    This course introduces statisticians to the practical use of Generative AI tools, with a focus on ChatGPT, to enhance the academic writing process. Participants will learn how to use AI to generate manuscript outlines, summarize papers, improve drafts, and assist with tasks like LaTeX formatting and R scripting. The session will also touch on ethical considerations and common pitfalls in AI-assisted writing. No prior AI experience is required.

    Writing Workshop participants are automatically registered for the short course at no additional cost.

    Non-Workshop participants may register for $75 (early bird) or $100 after August 1.

    NISS Affiliates not in the Writing Workshop may attend for $10 (early bird) or $20 after August 1-contact mglenn@niss.org using your institutional email to request a promo code.
