The Kentucky chapter of the ASA is thrilled to announce our 2023 Fall Short Course!
Python for R Users
Instructor: Bereket Kindo, Humana
Friday, November 3, 2023
8:30AM – 4:30PM ET
University of Louisville, Health Science Campus
K-Wing Building, Room 2006
555 South Floyd Street, Louisville KY
This short course introduces Python programming for users of R. Throughout the course we will highlight syntactic similarities and differences between the two languages. As much as possible, we will make the course beginner friendly. Please visit https://kyamstat.regfox.com/python-for-r-users for additional details and the registration page.
Attendance is open to everyone, including non-ASA and non-chapter members. Please feel free to share this announcement with others who may be interested.
Free Student Attendance. A generous grant from the ASA Biopharmaceutical Section will cover the registration costs for 40 student attendees on a first come, first serve basis.
Prerequisite: This course assumes basic knowledge of programming concepts such as variable assignment, using functions, vector/array construction and indexing. While the preferred prerequisite is a working knowledge of R or other statistical computing languages (e.g., SAS, Matlab), those with no prior background in programming are also welcome. We will make a concerted effort to make it beginner friendly. For those who do not have previous programming background in any language, we recommend reading the first 5 chapters of "Think Python" by Allen B. Downey. This book is freely accessible at Think Python Link.
