    Hello!

Happy "JSM Housing Goes Live" day!

Now is the perfect time to register for a short course, and it just so happens that will be offering my short course again this year, Quick-thinking, Confident, Communicative, and Collaborative: Fundamentals of Applied Improvisation for (Bio)statisticians and Data Scientists. It takes place Monday, Aug 3: 08:30-12:50.

Applied improvisation is not about developing acting or comedic chops. It is about taking the concepts of effective communication and collaboration and putting them into practice. You will learn by doing. And you will have a lot of fun along the way.

Why are these skills important to statistical scientists? You'll practice:

    1. Listening
    2. Telling stories
    3. Simplifying the message
    4. Justifying your choices
    5. Persuading others
    6. Being specific
    7. Navigating status
    8. Non-verbal communication
    9. Collaborating and being open to the ideas of others

More importantly, you will develop a confidence in yourself that you did not think possible, even when things go sideways.

This course is appropriate for students and seasoned professionals alike. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out at rzink@email.unc.edu

    See you in Boston!

    Best wishes,

    Richard
