Join us for a presentation to explore the new consensus study report ("Developing Competencies for the Future of Data and Computing: The Role of K-12") that recommends ways to better incorporate data and computing in K-12 education.
The event will be held virtually on March 12, 2026, from 2:00–3:00 p.m. (ET).

Computing and data increasingly shape civic life and the workforce - while efforts to expand learning in these areas have grown, opportunities to participate are unevenly distributed and lack coherence across grades and subjects.

The National Academies will host a webinar on March 12th to share a new consensus study report on data and computing in K–12 education. The report, which will be released at 11:00am ET that day, identifies seven foundational competencies that underpin fields such as data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computer science. It also offers guidance for integrating these competencies into K–12 education in ways that strengthen core mathematics and science learning.

During this one-hour event, members of the study committee will present the report's key findings and recommendations and discuss implications for education policy, curriculum design, and teacher preparation.
