    Biostatistics Faculty Position

    UT Health San Antonio

    The Department of Population Health Sciences (PHS) under the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio (UTHSA) seeks an experienced, doctorate-level faculty biostatistician. This is an open rank professorship with hiring track (Tenure or Non-Tenure) to be determined based on the experience and potential of the selected candidate. Ideal candidates will have expertise in areas including adaptive clinical trials, health equity/disparity methods and analysis for large healthcare databases, causal inference, development of dynamic treatment algorithms, statistical genomics applied to clinical outcomes, and electronic health data.

    The PHS department is the home to diverse data science faculty from biostatistics, bioinformatics, and clinical informatics. Research interests of the faculty include translational science, clinical- and population-based investigation, the application of epidemiological and biostatistical principles to clinical problem solving, formulation of health policy, and new analytic methods for adaptive clinical trial design, health equity/disparity, analysis of electronic health record data, bioinformatics, and deep neural networks. 

    There is tremendous need and significant opportunities to pursue areas of interest. For candidates interested in cancer research, there are research opportunities with the Mays Cancer Center, one of four NCI-designated Cancer Centers in Texas and the only NCI designated center in South Texas. UT Health is also a leader in aging research and neurodegeneration with the newly funded Alzheimer's Disease Research Center and Claude Pepper San Antonio Older Americans Independence Center. The Department will have opportunity to expand its scientific and educational collaborations with the new School of Public Health launching enrollment in 2024.

    This is a full-time position that will be performed on site in TX. Salary commensurate with experience with a generous benefits package.
