    The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is seeking a Research Mathematical Statistician (GS-14) to join the Mathematical Statistics Research Center (MSRC) in the Office of Survey Methods Research (OSMR). This is a unique opportunity to lead cutting-edge statistical research that directly impacts the integrity and quality of high-impact government data products.<u5:p></u5:p>

    BLS produces some of the nation's most critical economic indicators, including data on employment, occupations, inflation and prices, workplace conditions, and productivity. The work conducted in the OSMR supports these data products to meet the highest standards of statistical validity and relevance.<u5:p></u5:p>

    Key Duties<u5:p></u5:p>

    • Plans, initiates, and directs a continuing research and evaluation program in one or more areas of mathematical statistics applicable to BLS programs<u5:p></u5:p>
    • Prepares technical reports on mathematical statistical and statistical computing methods and procedures<u5:p></u5:p>
    • Presents research methods and evaluation results at technical seminars and professional meetings<u5:p></u5:p>
    • Maintains liaison with representatives of other agencies and research organizations to keep abreast of general developments in the application of mathematical statistical techniques as well as specific fields such as disclosure risk avoidance and the setting of and evaluating statistical standards<u5:p></u5:p>
    • Represents the Bureau in statistical exchanges with researchers in academic, government, and other research institutions and participates in interagency committees<u5:p></u5:p>
