Dear ASA Community,
Our colleagues from the Royal Statistical Society are collaborating with their colleagues in the Government Statistical Service on a report regarding the future of the statistics profession. Per the message below, they are requesting input on a first aspect of their project. I hope you will consider contributing.

Subject: RSS Future Statistician
Hi all,
I wanted to share some recent activity that you might be interested in reviewing and even commenting on. The RSS has partnered with the Government Statistical Society on a project about the future of the statistical profession, considering what changes there will be to the role over the next decade, and the impact this will have on skills, training, professional development etc.
We held a roundtable and have now published a report of the discussion, which forms the initial steps of this work. Read more on this here: https://rss.org.uk/news-publication/news-publications/2025/statistics-news/rss-partners-with-the-government-statistical-servi/
We are seeking feedback on this work. We would love to hear from you if you have thoughts on what will influence statisticians and data scientists over the next decade, and what future-proofing is needed.
Please do let us know your views, as well as sharing this with your networks and encouraging feedback. Please see our posts on LinkedIn and BlueSky if you would like to share these.
If you have any feedback or questions, please feel free to get in touch.
Kind regards
Ricky
