I have a simple suggestion that I wish I had thought of several answers ago!
Before clicking on "reply to group" or "reply to sender", FIRST click on "view thread" to see what other answers are already posted.
The discussion about random number seeds in R already had 4 answers before mine, which basically said the same thing mine did! I could have skipped responding,
And even after it had become clear that the issue was specific to the kind of simulation the original poster was doing, thus making even a correct use of set.seed a failure, others still posted the same things we were saying at the beginning, showing that they hadn't viewed the thread.
I've done it. I did it this time too! But it will make the discussions less repetitious if everyone views the thread before they reply.
