    Dear all,

As you may know, the ASA recently launched its new Data Science Certification Program. We are pleased to host a special webinar featuring Dr. Theresa L. Utlaut, Chair of the ASA Data Science Certification Committee, who will introduce the program and discuss its goals, credentials, and application process.

This webinar is open to the public, and registration is required.

Join us on Tuesday, July 14, at 1:00 PM ET for:

Recognizing Data Science Excellence: ASA Data Science Certification Program

Abstract: Data science has evolved from an emerging discipline into a profession whose practitioners influence critical decisions in business, government, health care, science, and society. As the field matures, employers, clients, and the public increasingly seek reliable ways to identify individuals who have demonstrated both technical competence and professional responsibility.

To address this need, the ASA has launched a voluntary Data Science Certification Program offering two credentials: Data Science Professional (DSP) and Advanced Data Science Professional (AdvDSP). Developed in partnership with the Alliance for Data Science Professionals, including the Royal Statistical Society and the Alan Turing Institute, these credentials establish rigorous standards for professional data science practice.

This presentation will introduce the rationale behind the certification program, describe the DSP and AdvDSP credentials, and explain the portfolio-based review process used to evaluate applicants. Attendees will learn about the five Alliance skill areas that anchor the credentials, eligibility requirements, the role of ethics and continuing professional development, and the responsibilities associated with maintaining certification-along with practical guidance for prospective applicants considering whether certification is the right next step for them.
