Dear All,
For those interested, here is another advocacy opportunity for medical research and NIH shared by the Ad Hoc Group for Medical Research.
Steve
Medical Research Month is the time to spotlight efforts across the medical research community! United for Cures is a collaborative network of patients, families, and patient advocacy organizations dedicated to protecting life-saving medical research that has – for decades – been leading the world in delivering treatments and cures in communities across the United States.
Visit the United for Cures webpage to learn more about how medical research has made progress in advancing treatments for diseases like Alzheimer's, Cancer, and Type-1 Diabetes, browse recent press releases, news coverage, follow on social media, and take action to urge Congress to protect and restore medical research funding.
Please see below suggested language to amplify across social media channels.
United for Cures is showing how #NIH support leads to breakthroughs in Alzheimer's, Cancer, and Type 1 Diabetes. Together, we advocate for discovery and a healthier future for all. #FundNIH

Subject: Coordinated efforts to communicate on NIH to Congress
Dear All,
For those of you interested in communicating with your Congressional delegation on NIH, see the two messages below from different groups with messaging, materials, and suggestions. The first is from the Ad Hoc Group for Medical Research and the second from Research!America. The first message also references resources developed by the United for Cures Campaign, Research!America, and the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB). I'm attaching two attachments that came with the first email to this message.
Please contact me via email if I can be of support with any of this.

As Members of Congress have returned home for August recess, please see attached an Ad Hoc Group developed NIH funding fact sheet and advocacy messages document to use as a resource in engaging with Congress on NIH advocacy. The resource covers a range of medical research issues including urging Congress to reject proposed NIH cuts and support for the Ad Hoc Group's NIH recommendation, highlighting the broad popular support for medical research, noting how funding delays threaten medical innovation, emphasizing how NIH cuts undermine U.S. leadership and lead to weaker economic output, and noting the importance of protecting merit-based funding.
For other materials to supplement and inform your advocacy efforts, please see attached and links to key messages and advocacy resources developed by the United for Cures Campaign, Research!America, and the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB).
Dear Steve, Research!America's August Advocacy Challenge is well underway, but there's still time to earn points, win prizes, and champion medical and health research while Congress is home for August recess. We have a new bonus opportunity worth 15 points: submit a short video explaining why medical research is important to you. For an extra 10 points, post your video on social media, tag Research!America, and use #RAAugChallenge. Your clip may be part of a video montage featured on Research!America socials. Use this Google form here to submit your video or follow these instructions if you do not have a Google account. If you have any questions, please contact Trent Carlson at tcarlson@researchamerica.org |
