INFORMS Quality, Statistics, and Reliability Industry Service Award
The INFORMS Quality, Statistics, and Reliability (QSR) Section is pleased to announce the INFORMS QSR Industry Service Award. This award honors outstanding QSR members who are employed in industry or non-academic organizations and have significantly contributed to the QSR community through service and engagement. While nominees need not be current QSR Section members, the award aims to recognize and encourage active collaboration and connection with the INFORMS QSR Section and its initiatives.
Eligibility
● The candidate must be an active member of the QSR Section by the time the award is made.
● The candidate must be employed in an industry or non-academic setting at the time of nomination.
● The candidate must have demonstrated meaningful service and continuing contributions to the QSR Section.
● Contributions must have occurred within the past 10 years.
● The candidate must have attended the INFORMS Annual Meeting at least once in the past five years.
● Members of the QSR Awards Committee are ineligible during their term of service.
Nomination
The entire nomination package should be emailed to the award committee chairs by end of Aug 14, 2026, at the applicant's local time. The nominator must be a current QSR Section member and should know the nominee in a professional capacity that allows them to provide a substantive and informed nomination letter describing the nominee's contributions and impact. The nomination package must consist of the following in a single PDF file:
● A nomination letter (maximum 2 pages) detailing the nominee's QSR-related service and impact.
● A short and concise CV or professional resume of the nominee (maximum 2 pages).
● A minimum of one and up to two letters of support (maximum 2 pages each).
● Optional supplementary documentation, including the five most influential QSR-related contributions of the nominee (maximum 2 pages).
The full nomination package must be submitted in PDF format and must not exceed 10 pages in total.
Criteria
The judges will use the following criteria in evaluating the applications submitted.
● Scope of Involvement: Breadth and variety of service roles and activities (e.g., engaging, speaking, mentoring, organizing, sponsoring).
● Sustained Commitment: Evidence of long-term involvement or continuous engagement in QSR activities.
● Impact on QSR Section: The degree to which the nominee's efforts have enhanced the QSR Section's visibility, growth, or membership engagement.
● Leadership: Efforts in initiating and leading QSR activities proactively.
● Collaboration: Efforts in fostering collaboration between industry and QSR.
Submission and Award Timeline
● Please email the entire nomination package as ONE PDF document to the award committee chairs by the end of Aug 14, 2026, at the applicant's local time.
● One winner will be notified by Oct 2, 2026.
● The award will be presented annually at the INFORMS Annual Meeting.
Conflict of Interest Policy
Societies and Sessions must follow standard conflict of interest guidelines. Those guidelines include, but are not limited to:
● Council members serving on the award committee and the society/session chairs of QSR should be ineligible for awards during the period of their service.
● The awards committee (or judging committee) should not include members who have either a personal or professional relationship with the nominees.
● The awards committee (or judging committee) should actively change its membership on a rotating basis from year to year to ensure fairness and equity.
● All committee members must recuse themselves from evaluating nominations where a conflict of interest exists.
