Call for Early-Career Participants: TIES Early Career Committee Working Groups

  • 1.  Call for Early-Career Participants: TIES Early Career Committee Working Groups

    Posted 6 hours ago
    The TIES Early Career Committee invites early-career researchers to join the 2026 TIES working groups. These groups are designed to bring together researchers working on ecological, environmental, climate, and spatial statistics to collaborate on timely and pressing methodological and applied problems.
    This is a great opportunity to meet other early-career researchers, build collaborations, and contribute to useful community-facing outputs. The working groups will aim to produce deliverables such as data products, software, benchmarks, tutorial resources, review or roadmap papers, and research articles. Each working group plans to meet approximately once per month, and participation is free.
    The 2026 working groups are organized around three themes:
    1. High-performance statistical computing for environmental sciences;
    2. Suitable extreme value approaches for weather and hazard applications; and
    3. Generative models for environmental spatial data.
    More details about the working groups are available on the TIES website. (https://www.environmetrics.org/TIES_working_groups.html)
    Early-career researchers interested in ecological and environmental statistics, spatial and spatio-temporal modeling, extremes, computation, machine learning, uncertainty quantification, and related areas are especially encouraged to sign up.
    Please feel free to share this with students, postdocs, and early-career colleagues who may be interested.
    Best,
    Joshua North and Likun Zhang
