Tribute to Professor Toshi Hamasaki, Past Editor, Statistics in Biopharmaceutical Research
I want to publicly recognize Dr. Hamasaki, who as an editor, sided with science over tradition in publishing my meta-analysis paper. The accepted preprint is shown in Link 1. It has already had over 1,000 views as of 4/23/26. Despite the simplicity and rigor of the ideas, my 2021 paper, Link 2, had an extremely difficult process to gain publication. It was screened for rejection without a peer-review nine times and rejected two, other times. The enclosed New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) editorial on publication of breakthroughs was ironically screened on his own by the editor in chief. I know it was never seen by then lead statistical consultant to the NEJM, the late Ralph D'Agostino Sr.
In short, I congratulate Dr. Hamasaki on his dedicated service as an author friendly editor of Statistics in Biopharmaceutical Research .
