The ASA-wide Book Club began as a project initiated by the Committee on Women in Statistics (COWiS), which originally created and organized the club to foster discussions on important topics in statistics, leadership, and professional development. Over time, other groups and sections within the American Statistical Association (ASA) became involved, broadening the scope and appeal of the club. Today, it has evolved into a collaborative, ASA-wide initiative, offering a platform for members across the organization to engage in thoughtful conversations about books that impact the statistical community and beyond.
In Fall 2024, the book club will be discussing two thought-provoking books:
1. The Lady Tasting Tea: How Statistics Revolutionized Science in the Twentieth Century (2002) by David Salsburg
2. Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action (2017) by Simon Sinek
To join, fill out this form forms.office.com/r/sp0uJVesDu by Friday, September 13.
Based on your book choice and availability, you will be assigned to a small group. Each group will meet five times, beginning in early October and concluding in late November or early December.
