Welcome to the Spring 2024 issue of Chapter Chatter, the newsletter for and about ASA chapters. The Council of Chapters Governing Board (COCGB) established this publication to foster improved communications between the COCGB and chapters and among chapters by providing a forum for spreading news throughout the statistics community about ASA chapter initiatives and activities.

Council of Chapters Traveling Courses Update
The ASA Council of Chapters Annual Traveling Course Program provides ASA chapters with lowcost opportunities to host high-quality short courses. The 2024 program includes five short courses on the following topics: ethical issues and best practices for data and analytics; a primer on machine learning; causal inference; going from R Markdown to Quarto; and data visualization using R. In total, 30 chapters have been awarded and chapters and instructors are working on selecting dates for the courses...Read more

The Arizona Chapter is in the planning stage of the ASA DataFest™ competition for Arizona’s public universities, including Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, and the University of Arizona. The Cincinnati Chapter continued its annual participation in the Southwest Ohio Science and Engineering Expo on March 9. It awarded prizes for proficiency in the application of statistical methods at both the 5–8 and 9–12 grade levels.
