Thanks so much for getting back to me Anjishnu! I'm so glad to have connections in the math world to help my students get even more enthusiastic about math.
My immediate need is to secure at least one more judge for my contest this year. I also want to have some publicity this year so when I expand this in the future I have more support. An article in a math publication would be excellent.
I had hoped to have my parents/school donate prizes this year, but would welcome additions to what we can scrape together…something that could be donated annually when this does expand beyond the confines of my school. This could be a trophy, a plaque, a signed certificate, a calculator, money, etc. I will need something for grades K-3, 4-6, and 7-9.
If a local statistician would be willing to come in to speak with my students, they would absolutely love it! Last year Pat Hopfensberger stopped in for a brief visit and my class was extremely excited to have him answer their questions and just talk about what a 'real' statistician does. I know there are several classrooms in my building that would love this. He was also able to congratulate the ASA contest winners, as he came after they were announced.
