This post is on behalf of the WiSER consortium.
We would like to bring to your attention a new initiative we are trying to get off the ground – A Wisconsin-wide Scientific Conference for scientists at all career levels (undergraduates to faculty) and spanning all natural science and health related disciplines. This inaugural year we will host this conference here at MCW, October 4-6, 2024, with hopes that it becomes an annual event that rotates around the state with regular stops here at MCW. The final day of the conference, Sunday October 6th will be a career fair with exhibitors and programming from both academic advanced degree programs and industry jobs across the state.
We have several goals with this conference and career fair, but some of the most important ones are to:
1) remove the economic barriers that prevent trainee scientists (namely undergrads) from being able to attend
2) create networking and career advancement opportunities for trainee scientists (Bachelor's to Postdocs).
3) And generally highlight the fantastic science being done in our state.
With these goals in mind, and regarding the career fair component specifically, we wonder if you and your program would like to participate? If you are interested in supporting this event or hosting a booth at the career fair, please see the attached flyer for more information. You can also find additional information about the conference on our website: www.wiser-consortium.org/conference. Finally, follow us on X/Twitter: @wiserconsortium
Hope to see you in October whether as an attendee or an exhibitor! If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
Michaela Patterson, CBNA (mpatterson@mcw.edu)
