The SSS aims to represent the interests of statisticians working in the quantitative social science fields such as demography, sociology, economics, political science, psychology, criminology, education, public policy, etc.
The section aims to:
- Foster productive cross-fertilization of statistical theory and methods across these disciplines,
- Help applied researchers stay up on the latest statistical methods
- Support members to advance their careers through networking and continuing education
The section also plans for the active participation in the affairs of the American Statistical Association by those interested in these matters and for representation of activities in the major field in the program of the ASA.
