Fellowship Q&A

1.     Who are eligible to apply for the FDA-OCE-ASA Oncology Fellowship?

    • The program is open to PhD students in biostatistics or statistics programs who have passed their program’s qualifying examinations or to current post-doctoral fellows in biostatistics or statistics with a specific interest in oncology drug development.
    • Fellows must be members of the ASA.
    • Participants should have completed coursework in clinical trials design and in survival analysis.

2.     Is there an application form and where should I submit?

    • There is no application form and applicants are required a candidate statement describing your interest in the program, a current CV, and one letter of reference.

3.     What is the last date of submission and when will I know if I am selected?

    • September 302023 is the last date.  Review of applications will start on October 1, 2023.
    • Selected Fellows will be notified by the end of November, 2023.

4.     When will the fellowship start and when does it end?

    • The fellowship will begin in January.  Fellowship consists of 6 sessions of 3 hour duration each spread over 8-10 months.

5.     What is expected of the selected fellows?

    • This is a virtual fellowship program.  All selected fellows are expected to attend all the 6 sessions and required to actively participate.
    • Complete homework assignments (reading documents or watching videos) prior to each session; homework assignments will be communicated via email to the selected fellows 3 weeks in advance of the upcoming session.
