I am looking for a postdoc to work on an NIH-funded project for predicting exposure to radon gas. Radon is an inert gas that is widely implicated as a causal factor in lung cancer and more recently has been linked to adverse cardiovascular outcomes including stroke. You will be working with me and Professor Eric Whitsel of the UNC Epidemiology Department with particular responsibility for developing methods to produce estimates of radon exposure at residential locations, using spatially distributed data from several historical surveys and a new survey that will be created as part of the project. This position would suit a recent PhD graduate with interests in some combination of spatial statistics, Bayesian statistics and sample survey methodology.
