    Dear ASA Members,

Attending JSM and interested in advocating for greater data science and literacy education? We invite you to sign up for in-person Congressional Visits on Capitol Hill on Thursday, August 11: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1o7yJ2sVi6FG3qQJNAy7so2278E6vBjlky7Iwny5Hlno/viewform?edit_requested=true

ASA staff are working to have a data science and literacy bill to be introduced this summer or fall to serve as the vehicle for your statistical literacy advocacy.

Visits will be made in person on Thursday, August 11 with a goal of meetings with 3-4 House and Senate offices. ASA staff will prepare participants for all aspects of the meetings, from requesting them and successfully making our case, to navigating the Capitol office buildings and follow-up. Participants will also be briefed on the data science and literacy bill and be provided leave-behind material.

The first 50 individuals to sign up will be accommodated. ASA staff will also work to include as many people as possible. Participants will be placed in teams of 2-3 for the meetings based on state (or region). We may need to cap the number of people from a state.

Should Congressional staff not be doing in-person meetings on August 11 because of the pandemic, we will shift the meetings to virtual, likely for later in August or even September. This call will be made by late July.

Please sign Up by June 17.

    Thank you!
    Steve
