    The Department of Mathematical Sciences is seeking applications for a tenure-track
    assistant professor position in statistics with research emphasis in statistical and
    computational methods for big data or related areas. The appointment will begin on
    August 15, 2018.

    The Department has a strong graduate program, which includes MS and PhD degrees
    in statistics. The department is dedicated to excellence in both research and teaching.
    Statistics faculty in the department are involved in both methodological and
    interdisciplinary research. They have diverse areas of research interests, which
    include scalable Bayesian methods and statistical methods for massive or complex
    data, in general, and high-dimensional data analysis, statistical machine learning,
    uncertainty quantification, and analysis of network data, in particular.

    The job duties include maintaining an active research program in statistics, mentoring
    graduate students, teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses in statistics and
    related areas, and providing service to the Department such as serving on
    departmental committees. The normal teaching load for research-active faculty is 6
    credit hours per semester with a 25% reduction for new faculty in each of the first 2
    years and a reduced service role.

    The position requires a PhD degree in statistics, or a related field with a focus on
    statistics, awarded by August 14, 2018. Completed applications consisting of a cover
