You have thought about applying for ASA PStat® accreditation, but have not done so because you are unable to provide examples of your work. The Accreditation Committee has a solution!
We recognize that for many people their work product is proprietary or for other reasons cannot be shared. If that’s the case for you, we will replace work examples with an interview. In particular, we will schedule a phone interview at your convenience with two members of the Accreditation Committee. This will be a colleague-to-colleague conversation about your work, in general terms. Think of it as a casual conversation with other statisticians about work. We know you may well not be allowed to even talk about specific projects, so it will be a general conversation about the kind of statistical work you do, what kinds of issues you come across, and how you tackle them.
If the committee members can get a sense that you practice statistics at a level consistent with the requirements for PStat®, then they will report this to the Accreditation Committee, and the committee will move forward accordingly to review the remainder of your application portfolio.
With this option available, please begin the process of applying. Go to the ASA website and click on “Account” to log in to ASA members only. Then click on “accreditation.” After you have worked on the other parts of the application portfolio, contact me (ron@amstat.org) to get briefed on how to handle the “work examples” portion.
