Apologies again that I cannot attend tomorrow.  I'm crossing my fingers that my work obligation is running late - in which case I may join for the first 5 minutes...doubtful but I can hope.

    Master's Notebook

I've been a member of the committee for a couple years (a very short time), but I can tell that this is a difficult task for our committee to complete.  Maybe we could reach out to the other committees and sections to find potential authors.  We could reach out to the chair, or better yet the "publications officer"!

If we were to take on this task by reaching out to others I would recommend that we think about splitting up the sections/committees and think about building a relationship with that section/committee leaders for this and future activities (one contact person from our committee will help us in accomplishing this and future goals).

    Fellows

I have reached out to statistical leaders at the NORC and Nielsen (ok, I will by the time of the call on Wednesday).  I hope to hear back from them by our November meeting.

The group is making progress.  We decided to focus on 4 topics:

    Personality training & Team building

    Influence

    Presentation skills

    Career Planning

We have split into teams working on these initiatives, I agreed to work in the Influence and Career Planning groups.  Our next task is to identify ways to incorporate learning into the ASA in these areas.  If you have ideas on how we can incorporate them into the ASA (think JSM, on-line, other conferences) please let me know.  They were asking for specific recommendations with names, costs, etc. attached.  We have been asked to complete this work by the end of November (?) I believe.

Ok, last post (promise).  I completed the assignment of reaching out to the NORC for possible fellow nominations.  There are three good candidates so there is no need to reach out to Nielsen for now.  Enclosed is an excel document summarizing their candidacy based on the information that I have today.  More work is needed, still if anyone has feedback on who they think is a great candidate, I am definitely all ears.  If you don't want to open the Excel doc, click on their Organization Bio below to get a feel for their qualifications.  All three are active in ASA with Ed and Kennon being the most active.
