Dear Committee on Applied Statisticians,
Great news! We have been authorized to meet at ASA headquarters for a face to face meeting this year.
(For those who have not attended in past, ASA covers all travel expenses. We will meet around 9:30am until about 3:30pm. ASA travel will book flights for those who need flights - like me! ASA brings in catering for lunch. Its a really nice opportunity for us to get to know each other and accomplish a good chunk of work.)
In order to get things moving I need your input. I am thinking that it will be too soon to try and have us meet in August. So, I propose September, October or early November. I'd like to avoid November and December as end of year activities and holiday travel starts to make life extra busy.
Marlene is our only west coast member so I would like to look at Fridays and Mondays (presuming that weekend travel would help). Probably Fridays as I suspect that tends to be a lighter work day for most.
If you would, please reply back with the following.
* Is September too soon to arrange a day away from the office?
* Any big conflicts? (like you can't do Fridays or Mondays)
* Anything else you feel would be pertinent to the early stage planning.
* Is November too late to meet?
I will send a doodle invite to select a specific date later. (Christy, Holly and Keith Crank, would you like to be included?) Please feel free to contact me if you would like discuss further.
I am very excited about this opportunity and look forward to meeting you at ASA headquarters!
Jennifer
