Discussion of Goals
Update
<March> Based on the last meeting "Christy suggested we hold a working session to identify the emerging technologies and methods and share our findings with the Council of Chapters.
Keith suggested we use social media sites like LinkedIn to identify opportunities and methods."
Let's discuss next steps towards these goals.
<February> Let's continue to discuss the charge and our bigger goals within this group. How would you like to contribute this year? What would you see as a "successful" contribution against these goals?
Charge 1: 1. Promote forums showcasing relevant technologies and emerging methods benefiting applied stats.
Charge 2: 2. Facilitate recognition of applied stat within various fields of application
Charge 3: Coordinate with other ASA groups/units to ensure attention to the needs, priorities and career paths of applied stats
Charge 4: 4. Increase awareness and promote careers in applied stats
Committee proposed that we modify Charge 1. Proposed revision: Promote state of the art methods and technologies. Action: committee members to review and agree or call for further discussion.

Nancy Geller's presidential initiatives
Nancy has asked for CAS support on two presidential initiatives. Erin Tanenbaum to serve on public awareness. Industry member LeAnna Stork to serve on Education initiative. CAS to offer support/feedback to representatives if needed.
- Public Awareness - Erin sent us a link to the "You tube" initiative and encouraged us to consider submitting a short video promoting stats to the contest. Link to YouTube competition for ASA. http://www.amstat.org/youtube/ (The maximum length of the video is 5 minutes so short and sweet is definitely a plus.)
- Education - volunteer from industry, LeAnna Stork from Monsanto [mailto:leanna.g.stork@monsanto.com]. Pam Arroway (NCSU) to chair.
