The IAA is a professional association for astronomers, physicists, statisticians, computer-information scientists, and others who are interested in the statistical analysis of astronomical data. The IAA is derived from the ISI Astrostatistics Committee and Network. Its foremost objective is to foster collaboration between statisticians and astrophysicists (see this overview). At mid 2014 it counts ~470 members, distributed in all continents except Antarctica. The mailing list iaa@brera.mi.astro.it is their internal comunication channel (to apply for IAA Membership ask hilbe@asu.edu or jhilbe@aol.com).
