Brief Description: This course will be offered in-person and virtually! The Statistical Expert Witness (StatXW) framework that we are using to organize the course contains four modules: Preliminaries, Plan, Prepare and Perform. During these modules participants will develop an approach for serving as a statistical expert witness which will include composing a statement of expertise. Participants will gain knowledge of the challenges and opportunities encountered by the statistical expert witness
The workshop design is an active learning model using case studies and small group activities. Through these activities, participants will gain knowledge of the challenges and opportunities encountered by the statistical expert witness.
We also have a 20-minute e-learning module participants will review prior to the workshop. This provides background knowledge on the courts and the role of expert witnesses.
The in-person course will meet at the ASA. The cost is $300 for ASA members.
