Hi Megan
you can try with the series of short articles 'Statistics Notes' by Bland and Altman in the BMJ. In PubMed search field
((Bland JM[Author]) AND Altman DG[Author]) AND "BMJ"[Journal]
You should get about 50 hits.

Subject: Accessible peer-reviewed papers for intro stat
Hello everyone,
I'm trying to find a handful of accessible peer-reviewed articles that I can use in my introductory statistics class to introduce students to the structure of a scientific paper. The vast majority (to my dismay) have literally never seen a paper with an abstract, methods, etc. Thus, I want to find some that have simple-ish analyses (t-test, chi-square test, correlation, simple regression, one-way ANOVA, etc.) and where the design isn't too complex. Basically, I want them to be able to follow the structure of a journal article without getting bogged down with discipline-specific lingo, such as complex medical terms. I have a wide variety of science students in my class, so requiring prior knowledge in a given scientific field is difficult.
If you have any relatively short, straight-forward articles you like (even if they're not current), I would appreciate their citation.
Thank you!
Megan
