Committee on Funded Research

The ASA Committee on Funded Research (CFR) will again be hosting a meeting at JSM for attendees to learn about funding opportunities directly from representatives of funding agencies. "Funding Opportunities for Statistics" is scheduled for Tuesday, August 5, 4-5:30 pm in room 157B of the Convention Center. This meeting has been very well attended in past years and I hope that you'll be part of it this year.

The confirmed speakers are

• Michael Vogelius, Director of the NSF Division of Mathematical Sciences
• Cheryl Eavey, Program Director of the NSF Methodology, Measurement, and Statistics program in the Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences Directorate, Slides
• Li Zhu, a Mathematical Statistician in the Surveillance Research Program at the National Cancer Institute of the NIH
• David Higdon will speak about funding opportunities through the Department of Energy of Science but he is not officially representing that agency.
• Kathy Ensor will speak about IARPA and briefly about  IARPA funding opportunities. She is not an official representative of IARPA. Slides.

If you have advice for funding for agencies/divisions not covered above, please let CFR Committee Chair Steve Sain know.

Each representative will speak for about ten minutes and then the rest of the 90 minutes will be Q&A.
