Undergraduate research opportunities in Statistics

Colleagues,

It is the time of year to suggest to your highly talented undergraduate students that they consider undergraduate research opportunities for summer 2014. Here is a brief/incomplete listing. If you have others to add I suggest that you reply to this post.

ASA publishes a list of internships in the December issue of AmStat News, with a listing here: http://www.amstat.org/education/internships.cfm starting December 2014.

The Summer Institute in Biostatistics program is an excellent opportunity for training (and a modest research experience) for students with little prior experience in Biostatistics. http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/funding/training/redbook/sibsweb.htm

My program offers 8-week research programs in biostatistics/statistical genetics and takes 5-6 students per year. While funded by NIH (not NSF REU), the goals are similar. http://www.dordt.edu/statgen

NSF REU programs (there aren't a lot of stat, but a few) are listed here: http://www.nsf.gov/crssprgm/reu/reu_search.jsp

4 Data Science for Social Good Fellowship: http://dssg.io/. Last year five of the 36 fellows were statistical science students.
