Dave wrote on our new STA Section: "I am delighted to tell you that the ASA Council of Sections has approved our petition to become the Section on Text Analysis. The Text Analysis Interest Group ends at the end of the year, and the new section is official on Jan. 1, 2023. Wendy Martinez will be our first section chair, since she was the incoming chair of the TAIG. Thank you all for signing our petition and agreeing to become members for at least a year. I hope you will continue much longer! I am delighted, but not at all surprised, by the way so many of the ASA membership came together to support this initiative. There will be more information on the plans for the new section in the December issue of the Amstat News."
