Hello All,
My name is Scott Toney and I would like to extend a hearty Happy New Year to you from BA/SE.
What is BA/SE you ask? It is the Business Analytics/Statistics Education interest group. This is the new name for SIBSIG, just in case you were familiar with the Statistics In Business Schools Interest Group.
Same group, new name!
Our interest group is made up of people that have an interest in quality statistics and analytics education with a business focus. A huge percentage of the introductory courses in statistics are taught to business students (either by business school professors or folks from around campus). Along with that, a ton of growth in statistics education is coming under the title of Business Analytics. Our name change is meant to recognize that change in focus in the real world.
What do we do?
As a special interest group in the ASA, we do a few of things.
- We have a meeting at JSM.
- We sponsor a presentation at JSM.
- We hold together a web presence at the ASA website so folks have a way to discuss topics of interest to BA/SE members.
We are currently working hard to put together a presentation or 2 for JSM Vancouver so watch this space for details.
