If you would like to contribute a recommendation for revision to the Guidelines, or for a comment for the linked discussion, we have created discussion threads for each of the Guidelines' individual principles. Please comment on the principle(s) most directly related to your suggestion(s).
Your suggestions should be as specific and complete as possible so that the Committee or its designated Working Group can review and consider your suggestions and input. All suggestions received through these discussion threads will be considered by the Committee.
Science and statistical practice are often conducted in teams made up of professionals with different professional standards. The statistician must know how to work ethically in this environment.
The ethical statistician:
- Recognizes that other professions have standards and obligations, that research practices and standards can differ across disciplines, and that statisticians do not have obligations to standards of other professions that conflict with these Guidelines.
- Ensures that all discussion and reporting of statistical design and analysis is consistent with these Guidelines.
- Avoids compromising scientific validity for expediency.
- Strives to promote transparency in design, execution, and reporting or presenting of all analyses.
