    Dear Colleagues,

Please see the following invitation from ASA Project Competition Leader Michelle Larson:

We Need YOU!  Join us in judging the 2023 ASA Statistics Project Competition

Are you interested in serving the statistics community? I am serving as head judge for this year's American Statistical Association (ASA) Project Competition (ASA Statistics Project Competition for Grades 7–12 (amstat.org). Please consider volunteering to serve as a competition judge. This is a great, low-key opportunity to see the work of statistics students from across the country, to view the projects completed by students, and to get ideas for your classroom. All teachers and those working with statistics in industry are welcome to join!

All work is done remotely.  All papers are viewed by multiple judges (i.e. very important but a low pressure position!) Judges are typically assigned 6-12 projects to read and evaluate during Round 1. Judges are given a scoring rubric to help them with this task. Each project is reviewed by several judges and the top scoring projects continue to round 2. Judges will be asked to review fewer projects in Round 2. Round 1 is typically three weeks ending in mid to late June (flexibility for AP Readers) and Round 2 is typically two weeks, ending in early July. After the two rounds of judging the winners are chosen.

Please complete this Google Form by TUESDAY, June 13 if you are willing to serve as a judge. With the return to in-person learning, we are anticipating a higher number of projects this year.

Thank you for your interest! I look forward to working with you!
