The Department of Statistics in the School of Computing within the College of Engineering and Computing at George Mason University will host StatConnect 2025, a one-day event on March 21, 2025. The event will be held in the Nguyen Engineering Building on Mason's Fairfax Campus.
StatConnect 2025 is an expansion of
Georges' Collaboration for the
STAT Day, first held at George Washington University and now a collaborative effort between
George Mason University, George Washington University, Georgetown University, the University of Maryland, and the Washington Statistical Society. The popular Georges' STAT DAY event was partially inspired by the annual Joint Stanford- Berkeley Statistics Colloquium, which started as early as
1960 on the West Coast.
The
STATConnect 2025 will kick off with a specialized industry mixer for statistics and data science students, offering networking opportunities for students, faculty, and professionals. Its main event will feature
a panel on data linkage, matching, and blending, followed by
a keynote address from
Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg Distinguished Professor Nilanjan Chatterjee. The afternoon will include
presentations by faculty and students, both oral and poster formats, covering modern development in statistics and data science in this changing landscape of AI and computing. To register, go to
STATConnect 2025.
