                                Ada van Krimpen, The Netherlands, Director International Statistical Institute (ISI) 2009-2022

    Abstract:             This is the first webinar of a Webinar Series organized by the ISI Committee Women in Statistics (CW-ISI). Former ISI Director Ada van Krimpen is going to be the first speaker of the webinar. She will discuss the proportion of women among ISI members and their role in governance. We then discuss which factors play a role in boosting the careers of female statisticians. Five prominent ISI members will give their personal views:

    ·      Mara Sherlin Talento, Philippines/Saudi Arabia, Chair ISI Young Statisticians Committee, PhD Student of the Biostatistics group at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Saudi Arabia.

    • A. John Bailer, USA, Emeritus professor of statistics and Founding Chair of the Department of Statistics at Miami University in Ohio USA., President of the International Statistical Institute, ISI,  2019-2021.

    ·      Denise Silva, Brazil, retired and voluntary Principal Researcher of the National School of Statistical Sciences (ENCE) from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). President of the International Association of Survey Statisticians (IASS) 2019-2021. She will soon take the role as ISI vice president.

    ·       Ola Awad, Palestine,  President of Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) since 2009, the Co-chair for the High-level group for Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-building for Statistics for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (HLG-PCCB), and the Co-chair of the Program Committee for the UN World Data Forum 2023. President of the International Association of Official Statistics (IAOS) 2015-2017.
